CLEVELAND, Ohio — To get ahead in business, women need other women.

That’s the take away from a Harvard Business Review study of 728 MBA graduates. The research found that women who had the top quartile of connections and had one to three close female friends “landed leadership positions that were 2.5 times higher in authority and pay than those of their female peers lacking this combination.”

A close group of women can privately share a company’s inner workings, which can help strengthen the job search and help with interviews and negotiation. They can help each other. Because when one woman thrives, she can help another woman thrive.
