MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – In today’s world, many young people don’t learn how to manage their money until it’s too late. That’s why Montgomery Public Schools is entering into a new partnership designed to improve financial literacy.
It happens all too often. An 18-year-old opens a credit card account without fully understanding how it works and ultimately falls into debt.
But what if that 18-year-old had been taught early about the pitfalls of financial mismanagement? That’s the very question a new partnership between Montgomery Public Schools, the River Region United Way and local financial institutions aims to address.
“An individual school will match up with an individual bank. That way you know exactly who your contact is,” said Bill Lacomb of the River Region United Way. “You can work.
