Latina nonprofits in New Orleans give back to Hispanic communities with education, finance resources [Video]

NEW ORLEANS, La. (BRPROUD) – Two Latina-founded nonprofits, El Centro and ECCO Community Center, are making a difference by providing Spanish resources for Hispanic communities in Louisiana.

Both nonprofits are located inside the Colmex Construction building in New Orleans and provide free resources. One aims at financial literacy for Latino communities and another in the education field.

Lindsey Navarro is the founder and executive director of El Centro, she was born and raised in Louisiana but has Panama roots.

“There’s enormous potential in our community, but there is access to resources that are language accessible to them is what the challenge is,” said Navarro.

Navarro founded El Centro in 2018 and uses the nonprofit to provide opportunities to improve financial literacy in the Hispanic community.
