Husson University inaugurates first female president | Local News [Video]

BANGOR — Husson University marked two major milestones Friday afternoon.

The school inaugurated its very first female president and announced the largest donor gift ever received in university history.

Dr. Lynne Coy-Ogan has been serving as Husson University’s 7th president since July. 

Friday, she was officially inaugurated as the school’s first female president in the school’s 126-year history.

“Women continue to make great advancements in leadership across the country, but in higher education there’s still a way to go. To know — while I may be the first female president at Husson — I won’t be the last… that’s exciting,” said Coy-Ogan.

During the ceremony, the school also announced a $2.18 million dollar estate gift from alumnus Bob O-Keefe — the largest ever from a single donor.

O’Keefe made the donation on behalf of himself and his late wife Fran, who have been longtime Husson supporters and helped to create the university’s softball field.
