TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) – A handful of Kansas City metro area minority-owned businesses were honored in Southwest Kansas during the 39th Annual Minority and Women Business Awards.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly announced that minority and women-owned businesses from across the Sunflower State were honored as part of the state’s Annual Minority Enterprise Development Week on Friday, Sept. 6.
Gov. Kelly noted that the Kansas Department of Commerce’s Office of Minority and Women Business Development hosted the 39th Annual Minority and Women Business Awards Gala on Friday at the Wild Sage Ranch at 1552 Rd. S, Hugton, Kan. The gala recognized business owners statewide in 14 categories.
“Kansas’ minority- and women-owned businesses have greatly contributed to the economic development success our state has experienced over the past five years,” Kelly said. “These companies and individuals are crucial to growing our economy and making Kansas the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
