CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry celebrated her 58th birthday on Wednesday morning by visiting Piedmont Elementary alongside U.S. Sen. Shelly Moore Capito, R-W.Va., speaking to students about her life before becoming a famous actress.
“I always dared to dream, I knew that I would leave my own backyard one day. I think it’s really important that we go back, that the Senator and I we do go back, and we touch the lives of the youth and give them inspiration,” Berry said.
She joined Sen. Capito for her West Virginia Girls Rise Up campaign. Capito and Berry said they hope their visit leaves a long-lasting impact.
“For them to say, ‘well you know maybe I can do that, maybe I can be that,” Capito said.
