DIY retailer Woodie’s may have traditionally been seen as a male-dominated workplace but that is, it seems, a stale stereotype.
The outlet, which has 35 stores nationwide, is doing remarkable work in making sure not only that women have a place but a leading role in the company.
Woodie’s has been recognised as a Great Place to Work (GPTW) in Ireland and Europe and a Best Workplace for Women.
Its employee base is gender-balanced and its leadership team is 57% female.
“I would have no interest in working for a business that didn’t have balanced leadership representation,” admits Elaine O’Brien, the company’s Chief Financial Officer told Businessnews.ie.
“Actually, I’d have no interest in working for a male-dominated organisation, full stop. Because where would I fit into it?”
